Donate Life Rose Parade
Tuesday, January 1, 2013
The Donate Life Rose Parade Float will be participating again in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
Seventy-two organ, eye and tissue donors will be honored with floral memorial “floragraph” portraits that will grace the Donate Life float in the 2013 Rose Parade®. Each of the individuals portrayed in the floragraphs left a positive impact on their family, communities, and those they helped. The 72 floragraphs will line the heart-shaped path rising above 32 riders aboard the float, themed Journeys of the Heart, which dramatizes the ups and downs experienced by donor families, transplant recipients and living donors.
The parade will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 10 a.m. Central time. The Rose Parade will be broadcast live on HGTV, the Hallmark Channel and on either ABC or NBC affiliates throughout the nation. In St. Louis, the parade will be broadcast on KSDK Channel 5.
Another highlight of the float is the Family Dedication Garden, a living memorial on the float with more than 1,000 dedicated roses. Any family or individual who has been touched by organ and tissue donation and transplantation can dedicate a Donate Life Rose that will bear a message and will be placed on the float to be part of the Family Dedication Garden.
