Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White visited Driver Services Facilities in the Metro East on May 15 to present certificates of appreciation to DMV staff and a new countertop display encouraging organ and tissue donation. The display features Jazmyne Davis, who donated organs and tissue in 2007 as a 9-year-old, and her family.

Secretary White visited offices in Granite City, East St. Louis, and Belleville as part of a statewide effort to work with organizations to promote the importance of organ and tissue donor awareness. In Illinois, more than 5.2 million people have joined the registry, but every year about 300 people die waiting for their Gift of Life.

Secretary White spoke with the workers at each location, and introduced Jazmyne’s father, Clarence, who spoke about the benefits of organ and tissue donation for his family. Clarance shared how donation helped his family through a tragic situation.
