annie-malone3-500x360-9x0Mid-America Transplant Services recognized Donor Families and recipients with a float in the annual Annie Malone Parade on Sunday. The Annie Malone Family and Children Services organization celebrates 125 years. The MTS float, which placed third in the Float Division, consisted of a 25-person, horse-drawn carriage in which Donor Families and transplant recipients rode for the one-mile parade through Downtown St. Louis. MTS employees and volunteers walked alongside the carriage and helped hand out giveaways and candy to spectators.

In addition to honoring those who have given the Gift of Life, float participants aimed to raise awareness and encourage spectators to enroll in the state organ and tissue donor registry to help the more than 1,300 St. Louisans waiting for a life-saving organ transplant today.
