Illinois Secretary of State Throws First Pitch at Miner's Baseball Game

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White ´╗┐threw out the first pitch Thursday at the seventh annual Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Night at the Southern Illinois Miner’s baseball game. Sec. White also conducted an in-stadium interview shown on the video board at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois and a live radio interview with 97.7 FM.

 Before and during the game, volunteers from the Secretary of State’s office, Donate Life Illinois and Mid-America Transplant Services encouraged fans to join the organ and tissue donor registry in the concourse.

The Southern Illinois Miners were the 2012 Frontier League Champions and have been awarded the Frontier League Organization of the Year three times since its inception.  The team set a Frontier League attendance record in 2007. ´╗┐
