The Pulse of St. Louis, a local 30-minute program hosted by Shirley Washington on KPLR11, dedicated its May 24th program to the topic of organ donation and the need for organ and tissue donors in the St. Louis region. The program started with a feature about Marlon Sanders, an actor who received a kidney shortly after moving back to his hometown of St. Louis after waiting for three years in Los Angeles.
The program continued with a panel discussion, including Mid-America Transplant Services Chief Operating Officer Diane Brockmeier, Donor Family member Pastor Robert White, and Dr. Peter Horton of Saint Louis University Hospital. The panel discussed the need for minority organ and tissue donors, how viewers can become organ and tissue donors, and the legacy a donor leaves.
