The Transplant Games of America Officially Begin

Posted July 13, 2014 in News Category

The 2014 Transplant Games of America officially kicked off Saturday night with the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. The lighting started a spectacular fireworks display to open the Games.

Earlier at the ceremony, each team entered the stadium similar to the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. Donor Families were the last to enter and received the loudest applause of the night.

Scott MacIntyre, a kidney recipient and former American Idol contest, played two songs from his album Songs of Hope. Several personal testimonies from recipients and Donor Families were shared as well.
