St. Louis, MO – June 29, 2015 – Mid-America Transplant Services (MTS), the regional organ procurement organization dedicated to saving lives in our community, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a Top Workplaces 2015 by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“It is an honor for MTS to be recognized as a Top Workplace by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,” said MTS President and CEO Dean F. Kappel. “We are committed to investing in our people and taking care of our employees. It is incredibly rewarding to know our employees recognize MTS as a Top Workplace.”

Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, MTS employs more than 170 people and has grown significantly in the last few years. Serving more than 4.7 million people in eastern Missouri, southern Illinois and northeast Arkansas, the organization facilitates the recovery of organs and tissues for transplant purposes. MTS’ mission to save lives through excellence in organ and tissue donation is one of three primary reasons employees say that they work for the organization. Exceptional benefits and their relationships with co-workers are the other two reasons that have repeatedly led to a highly satisfied and engaged team.

twpstlouispost-dispatchportrait2015awFlexible scheduling, wellness programs and rewards and recognition programs have led to an annual retention rate of about 90 percent. In addition, MTS employees are motivated by stories from families of organs and tissue donors and transplant patients. These inspirational people give the staff a glance into the grief, suffering, hope and healing that can come from the lifesaving decision to donate one’s organs and tissues.

“We consistently seek to ensure our employees feel valued and engaged in our mission to save lives,” said Kappel. “Surveying our team always proves beneficial as we continuously try to improve through the feedback received. We know listening to our team results in better, happier employees who take extra steps to help each other and those we serve.”
