Corey Eaker was at his wife’s memorial service in June of 2013 when the ideas started coming to him on how to share Molly Pearce-Eaker’s story and legacy.
As Patty Kallal described her week in Pasadena, California for the 2013 Rose Parade, her stories about the event capture the emotion and meaning surrounding the Donate Life float. But the most telling statement about its impact is her future plans to attend the parade. “My goal is to go out there again for a weekend in December and help work on a floragraph or the float,” she said.
A floragraph of Kyndall Brown will be part of the Donate Life float at the 123rd annual parade.
Blake saved five lives through his family’s generous consent to organ and tissue donation. This holiday season, on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, Calif., Blake’s photo will be one of 60 depicted in flowers on Donate Life’s 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade Float. Blake is the only organ donor highlighted from Missouri.
Inspired by the families who generously chose to donate the Gift of Life, the PICU staff at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri wanted to recognize “The Enduring Gift” of the organ and tissue donor.
Creating a lasting tribute to organ and tissue donors as well as their families, Mid-America Transplant Services is dedicated a new Donor Memorial Monument in the central grounds near its office, 1110 Highlands Plaza Drive East in Saint Louis, Missouri. The dedication ceremony took place at 7p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.
