Over the past several years MTS has charted a steady course for excellence. By the generosity of donor families, and through the dedication of our staff and the many physicians, nurses, and partners, we continue our journey in 2011 to save even more lives.
Mid-America Transplant Services became the first Organ Procurement Organization nationwide to have its own onsite CT scanner in June.
Hospitals in the MTS region found creative ways to spread awareness of the benefits of organ and tissue donation during Donate Life month in April.
Mid-America Transplant Services announces the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors. MTS’ board comprises donor family members, healthcare executives, physicians, and other disciplines, including ethics religion, and law.
“Visibility helps jumpstart the conversation.” Peggy Wobbema, a Chaplain in the Pastoral Care Department at CoxHealth South in Springfield, talks passionately about raising a Donate Life flag in front of her hospital. “It’s there every day, right under our hospital flag,” she says. “What I want the community to ask themselves every time they see the flag is, ‘Am I signed up?’ and ‘What do I believe about organ and tissue donation?’ It’s a daily chance to trigger thoughts and questions about the process and benefits of donation.”
For the second time, Mid-America Transplant Services has earned the prestigious Missouri Quality Award. The award, modeled after the acclaimed Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, is given by the Excellence in Missouri Foundation for excellence in quality leadership.
Blake saved five lives through his family’s generous consent to organ and tissue donation. This holiday season, on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, Calif., Blake’s photo will be one of 60 depicted in flowers on Donate Life’s 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade Float. Blake is the only organ donor highlighted from Missouri.
The AAIM Employers’ Association (AAIM EA) has selected Mid-America Transplant Services of St. Louis, MO as a “2010 Employer of the Year.” The awards program honors AAIM Employers’ Association (EA) members who recognize their employees as their greatest asset and work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value and business results through policies and best practices in human resources management.
Creating a lasting tribute to organ and tissue donors as well as their families, Mid-America Transplant Services is dedicated a new Donor Memorial Monument in the central grounds near its office, 1110 Highlands Plaza Drive East in Saint Louis, Missouri. The dedication ceremony took place at 7p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.
