I am a 51-year-old mother of 3 grown children and have the blessing of 1 grandchild who is the light of my life. I’m also a disabled long-haul truck driver. My kidneys sadly took me out of the seat in 2022. It wasn’t a job to me, it was my life. Being home has been extremely difficult for me.
I started PD dialysis in March of 2022 and was on it for a year. I was fortunate to be off any type of dialysis for around a year. Sadly, last year I was back on it but had to be put on HD because my kidneys are too large for PD any longer. I have polycystic kidney disease. My nephrologist believes my kidneys weigh between 30 and 35 pounds apiece.
I have been on the kidney transplant list for a little over 3 years now, but I’m also hoping to find a living donor. I long to be back out on the road, delivering vital freight across the country, and living my life to the fullest!
