Donald Clayton Jr.
Through his gift of organ donation, Don’s legacy of love, selflessness, and strength will continue to touch lives for years to come.
Don Clayton Jr., 49, was a remarkable man whose impact on those around him will never be forgotten. Born and raised in Southeast Missouri, Don met his high school sweetheart there, and together, they built a life full of love and adventure, raising three children who were his pride and joy.
A passionate advocate for bringing people closer together, Don always strived to show others their best selves through mentorship and encouragement. He was known for his unbelievable intellect, starting his career in public accounting, where he advanced quickly. Once in the private sector, he became CFO and eventually CEO, proving his dedication and tenacity that was far beyond his years. Don had a deep love for nature, often hiking with his dogs, clearing trails, and improving the grounds of his property. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors listening to his favorite gospel, country, and bluegrass music, especially Willie Nelson, which filled the air as he worked. He was just a couple of months shy of retiring and celebrating his 50th birthday, a milestone he greatly anticipated, especially as he had recently discovered newfound loves for cruising with his wife and visiting Branson, MO, to see his favorite band, The Homestead Pickers.
Don had a fondness for Diet Sunkist and often dressed in dark-colored clothing, which became his signature style. His devotion to his family, his faith, and the animals he cared for — especially his dogs, and even the cats he reluctantly accepted — reflected his deep compassion and generosity. Through his gift of organ donation, Don’s legacy of love, selflessness, and strength will continue to touch lives for years to come. His family encourages transplant recipients to reach out if they are comfortable doing so.
